Welcome To The Rainbowfish Breeders Circle

This program is sponsored by the Rainbowfish Study Group of North America.

The purpose is to insure the stability of quality Rainbowfish available to the aquarium hobby. Dedicated Rainbowfish Keepers are coming together to work in small groups on each species.

We have over 100 species and species varieties in North America. Many times in the past we've lost these species in the hobby, because too few people we keeping and breeding them. Often the last person keeping the species wasn't even aware they had the only fish left in North America. This program is dedicated to preventing this from occurring in the future. But we need help!!!

Here is the List of Species and Breeders in the program. If you're not sure what a rainbowfish is and would like to see a list of all the species then visit this page, Taxonomic Classifications.

If you're a Rainbowfish keeper and wish to participate in the program, please email me with which species you would like to work with. If you're presently in the program send me an update on how your fish are doing.

At the Rainbows 97 Convention, I gave a talk on the Species Maintenance Program. Here is an article covering the basics of that talk that I call What Is Species Maintenance. I provide suggestions on what we can do and where we have failed in the past. Anyone participating in the program is encourage to read this article.
