JULY 2007                                       4                           SERVO CHATTER

Meeting Minutes

June 26, 2007

Meeting called to order at 7 P.M.
       21 members present.

Board Reports:

* Safety:  Dan Stahn asked that everyone observe the flight pattern and maintain physical control of their plane from the pits to the taxiway.

* Events:  Matt Campson mentioned that the July 15 Fun Scale contest will have pictures for all contestants along with 1st, 2nd & 3rd place trophies.

* Treasurer:  Jake Groetsch noted that the club broke even with the Pattern contest and that we are in overall good shape.

Old Business:

There was discussion as to the need for a backup date for all events, i.e. events scheduled for a Saturday would have Sunday as a backup in case of inclement whether.  Regarding the Spring Fly In there was some discussion as to the possibility of tying it in with one of the local parades.  It was agreed that we would begin to plan in November for the next Spring Fly In.  Will need at least 10 willing volunteers.

New business:

There was further discussion regarding the new Spread Spectrum radios and it was observed that 72 mHz receivers had dropped considerably in price recently - apparently as a result of this new style radio.  They are now an exceptionally good bargain.

Show and Tell:

* Don McGillivray brought in an old time Playboy made out of Dow foam.  It had a polyhedral wing and rudder & elevator control.  The airfoil was formed by folding the foam over a flat edge.  We were treated to a flight right after the meeting adjourned and it flew beautifully.

* Bruce Montgomery brought in his almost finished Sig 4 Star 40. It is beautifully finished in Green and Yellow & powered by an OS46AX.  Guidance is via a new Spectrum radio.  Bruce modified a Ken doll for the pilot.  The plane looks great and we are anxious to see it fly.

* Bob Proulx brought in his ME262 Messerschmitt that is now finished.  We first saw this model over the winter when it was just a CAD drawing and some laser cut parts.  Bob did a super job of building and finishing the model.  It is powered by dual ducted fans with a thrust of 3 ½ - 4 lbs each and is powered by a 4S 5000 ma LiPo battery.  The model has a 76 inch wingspan and weights 10½ pounds with the battery.  It has full retracts.  We are anxious to also see this beauty fly.
