Meeting Minutes


August 23, 2007


The meeting was called to order by vice president Andy Noll at 7PM.  Al Spearbecker was not able to preside because of work commitments.


New Member - Dave Greene - has been flying for 6 months.


Stan Zdon gave the membership report.  He reported that the club had 94 members.  That number includes 82 current members and 12 new members this year.  There are 7 life members and 5 junior members.  A question was raised about Life Memberships.  At one time, when the Club was in need of funds, a member could pay a one-time fee of $500.00 that would be considered his or her membership fee for life.  Life memberships are no longer available.


Bob Nagle reported on the Fun Fly to be held on Saturday August 18, 2007 at 10AM, weather permitting.  The rain date will be the follow Saturday August 25, 2007 at 10AM.  The flight line will open at 9AM for trim flights.  One of the events will be an egg drop; the other 2 events will be selected prior to the Fun Fly.


Stan Zdon reported that next months Monthly Meeting will be at the Riverwind Community Center in Coon Rapids at 7PM on Thursday, September 20, 2007.


Stan Also reported on the leveling of the grass portion of our field.  He had talked to the owner about this and he had suggested waiting because the dry conditions would make it hard to grow new grass.


Jake Groetsch gave the treasures report.


Dave Dentz reported that he had given John Thiede his solo flight, congratulations to him.


Darren Bitzer, as a point of information, reported that Wings of the North would have a flying demonstration at the Flying Cloud Field in Eden Prairie.

Tim Karash reported that MAAC Swap Meet will be held January 19, 2008 at the B-Dale Men's Club in Roseville.  He also reported that the St Croix Valley Pattern contest next year will have a vintage pattern event along with the regular pattern contest.  The date of that is yet to be determined.


A discussion was held on what type of material for the roof does the club want for the shelter.  Darren Bitzer made a number of suggestions.


Show and Tell


   Marc Davis showed his new project, a F35 electric powered fanjet.


   Eric Castrodale showed his Seagull Models Yak 54.  He installed a Zenoah GI 20 Gasser and it weighs in at 10 lbs.

   Andy Noll showed a World Models Cap 232 ARF with a Saito 72 for power.


   Bob Nagle showed a Hobbico Twin Star that he converted to electric.
