ABOUT ME, VALERIE GODET, MA, LPP
I specialize in helping people create lives that are more fulfilling,
rewarding, secure, and joyful. I help people look at what has blocked
them, hurt them, frightened them, or delayed them from developing into
the wonderful, caring, trusting, successful person they were born to
be. I help people to get to know themselves more deeply and truly so
that they are better able to connect with the people they care about. I
help people to determine what matters most to them and why, so that
they can heal, change, grow, and succeed.
My approach to therapy draws upon many different theories and
philosophies, incorporating emotional, cognitive (beliefs and
attitudes), spiritual and behavioral components. I draw heavily upon
constructivist self development theory, which views life in a holistic
manner, examining how the past forms us and how we continue to shape
ourselves in light of who we believe ourselves to be. My approach is
highly individualistic; that is, I draw on many possible ways to help
each client in the way that is most appropriate for him or her as an
individual person leading a unique life.
The letters after my name indicate my credentials. I hold a
Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychological Services, and I
am licensed by the State of Minnesota as a Licensed Psychological
Practitioner. I have had specialized training and experience in
recovery from trauma and abuse, growing through grief, loss, and life
transitions, overcoming anxiety and depression, and balancing life
roles. I work with adolescents and adults, helping them with a wide
variety of issues, such as healing from past or present emotional pain,
or healing from emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. I help people who
want to understand themselves better and who are ready for a change for
the better in their lives.
