Pu`uhonua o Honaunau Pu`uhonua o Honaunau (Place of Refuge at Honaunau) is located on the leeward side of Hawaii south of Kailua.  When someone broke one of the many Kapu the only place they could be granted absolution for their crime was at a Pu'uhonua.

Honu, Hawksbill Turtle The Honu (Green turtle) is native to Hawaii.  You can often view sea turtles eating limu (sea weed) near shore.  This turtle was sunning itself on the black sands of Punuluu.
