The view from the Kalalau Lookout is breathtaking.  We watched as the low clouds moved in and out of the valley until finally lifted revealing the magnificent view of the valley and the Pacific beyond. Kalalau Lookout, Na Pali Coast
A`papane at Kalalau Lookout, Na Pali Coast The 'Apapane is one of the most abundant of the remaining native species of honeycreepers left in Hawaii.  We felt lucky to see her looking for food in the blossoms of Ohia trees.
Waimea Canyon is usually referred to as the "Grand Canyon" of the Pacific and is about 3600 feet deep.  Of course the real beauty is in the multi-hued layers of rock and soil.  If you want to know more about the geology if this unique place visit the Geologic Tour of Kauai. Waimea Canyon
