 Stave Kirke (46106 bytes)More old churches!  This one built in Nov. 1200 is in Heddal.  The guide here spoke several languages and switched from one to another depending on the color ticket you held.

 

 Road Narrows (45517 bytes)Road narrows!  If you like big cars and wide roads you won't be comfortable here.  On many roads there was only room for two small cars to pass without having to pull over onto a wide spot.  Also NO Shoulders!
Map We followed the green line right to left!  Six hour drive starting at Hvittingfoss.
Lofthus (23799 bytes)We stayed at Lofthus.  Part of the Hardanger fjord outside our window.  Very nice Ullensvang hotel.

Church Front (27720 bytes)Church Rear (38978 bytes) The Ullensvang church, built between 1250 & 1300, has stone walls that were about five feet thick.
